Answers to Writing Practice

Directions: The following English words are pronounced differently from how they are written. Say each word out loud and listen carefully to the individual sounds. Then, record how these sounds would be written in the Hawaiian language.

Answers may vary if your dialect does not resemble General American English.

Example:
   many ("meh nee") = meni

1. who ("hoo") = hu
 
2. holly ("hah   lee") = hali
 
3. achy ("ay   kee") = eiki
 
4. wily ("wai   lee") = waili or uaili
 
5. anyway ("eh   nee   way") = eniwei or eniuei
